Unpacking My Recent Reads: A Journey Through Pages

Lately, I have been obsessed with mystery books. I've never been much of a mystery girl, but sometimes I get tired of reading the same genre, so I switched it up. I wanted to read something that had me on my toes. I started with reading "The Silent Patient" and wow it did not disappoint. I won't say anything else other than, go read it! Then at the start of the new year, I read "We Were Liars" and "One of Us is Next" within two weeks. I liked both, however, they felt a little too similar to the first book in their series. I loved the style of writing, but I felt myself wanting more from them. I wanted the writer to trick me and have the twist be more unexpected. Both of these mysteries I downloaded onto my Kindle. Also, guys, I was completely against reading on a Kindle because I love the feeling of opening a physical book. Then my coworkers and friends told me how much they loved their Kindle and I caved. I asked for a Kindle for Christmas. I love that I can take it on trips because we all know how heavy it is to take a physical one. Books also take up so much space. I could fit a whole other outfit in there! Then, after reading those two mystery books, you know I had to go back to my first love, fantasy. One series I knew I had to read was "The Darkest Minds". I watched the movie many years ago and always hated that it ended on a cliffhanger. When I found out it was a series, I knew there was more to the story. I read the first book and it was spot-on with the movie. I loved it. I'm in the middle of reading the second book, but I have paused due to another book catching my attention. You'll notice that I read multiple books at once sometimes. I pick up and put down books very often. I know, yikes. The book that caught my attention was popular the Powerless series by Lauren Roberts. It has been trending on bookstagram.

Yes, I use Instagram as my primary social media. It was my first social media and I just cannot part with it. I began reading Powerless yesterday. When I tell you I inhaled that book! I'm already halfway through. I love that the main character is so powerful without having any magic abilities. I read this book for about 3 hours today, having to tear myself away to go to class. I intend on finishing it in the next few days and beginning the second book in the series. There are about 3 books in the series, but I only have the first two. I heard the 3rd book is written differently than the other two, so I don't plan on getting it quite yet.

I read books pretty fast, so I'll be needing some recommendations soon! If you have a book you'd love for me to read, send me a message in the "contact" tab. I love to see what other people are reading.
